An epidemiological study of parasite in school


Abstract
Although the parasite control program has done for several years in school, till now. there was no well planned and¢¥ epidemiological data based program. So, to get the epidemiological data on parasite in school and with these to make the well organ
ized and planned program for parasite control, this study was done for one year from March, 1973. The data that we got were as follows;
1) Total number of sample was 8.132 and among these number, the number of primary school, middle school and highschool students were 4,012, 2,748 and 1,372 respectively.
2) The experience rate for parasite examination in the each level of school were 85% in primary school, 87% in middle school and 86% in high school.
3) The status of medication of antiparasite drug showed that more than 60% of total students was taken drug one or more times in a year. But, the regular taker with 3 month interval was less than 5%.
4) Through the all level of school, most of the students purchased antiparasite drug in school.
5) The infectious rate ¢¥of Ascaris lumbricoides showed that 46% in primary school, 29% in middle school and 38% in high school.
6) The infectious rate of Trichocephalus trichiurus for each level of school(primary, middle, high school) was 38.0%, 39.0%, and 32.0% respectively.
7) The comparision of average body weight between parasite imfected group and not infected group showed no diffirence.
8) Through the all level of school, the level of hemoglobin between parasite infected group and not infected group was not different.
